3-day itinerary in el cocuy national park
A carefully designed glacier expedition in the Colombian Andes, balancing acclimatisation, challenge and cultural connection
day 1 -Arrival & Mountain Preparation
Arrival in Güicán in the afternoon. Equipment check, altitude briefing and preparation for the expedition ahead. Evening rest to begin proper acclimatisation in the Sierra Nevada del Cocuy.
DAY 2 – High-Altitude Acclimatisation Hike
Approx. 10 km trek reaching 4,200 meters above sea level through Andean páramo landscapes. A scenic but essential acclimatisation route designed to prepare your body for glacier .
DAY 3 – Glacier Ascent EXPEDITION AND CLOSE EXPEDITION
Approx. 16 km trek reaching up to 5,000 meters above sea level. You’ll ascend to the edge of one of El Cocuy’s iconic glaciers. Possible routes include: Ritacuba, Cócavo, Pan de Azúcar.
